Watch my process of exploring a new tool, and an idea for classroom usage:

Digital Literacy at its finest. Learning through experience.

I was overwhelmed with the idea of creating a website when I entered my masters program at University of Wyoming.  I always wondered how you do it and how people even start to create their own presence on the web.  Dr. William Cain's first assignment for all his classes is: Create a Website.  He gave us a list of free sites to use and I randomly selected one. There was no "how to" directions on the assignment. No step by step direction on what to do. Just simply the word "create".

This video does not do any sort of instructional justice on how to create a website using Weebly's free site creator. Although this not only demonstrates what I figured out on my own, but also how I might be able to use this in my profession as a math teacher.

This is an example of digital literacy. My ability to go from scratch, and figure out how to use a useful tool. I explored, made mistakes, looked up answers and just went for it.  Furthermore, for this master's capstone, I played around with IVideo on my Mac to create this video.  I did not take a class. I only figured out slowly how to put clips together and add music and titles to my video.

By no means is this perfection. But if I have learned anything in this program is that sometimes you just have to go for it and see if you can figure it out.  Assignments are vague, and my options are limitless. So here is a mediocre video of my experience.
